Anna Luísa Beserra is a Brazilian biotechnologist and social entrepreneur known for her innovative work in developing sustainable water purification technologies. At just 15, she was inspired by Graciliano Ramos' novel 'Vidas Secas' to create a solar-powered rainwater purifier, Aqualuz, which has since benefited over 46,000 people across Brazil and beyond. A graduate of the Federal University of Bahia, she also holds a degree in Leadership of New Ventures from MIT. In 2019, she became the first Brazilian to receive the UN's Young Champions of the Earth award. Beserra founded the startup SDW (Sustainable Development & Water for All) to address water scarcity and sanitation issues, emphasizing the need for equitable access to clean water. In addition to her technological innovations, she has embraced motherhood and authored children's books, reflecting her commitment to both social impact and personal growth.
