Anne Reeves Jarvis was an American social activist known for her role in the early Mother's Day movement. She organized a memorial for her own mother in 1907, which laid the groundwork for the eventual establishment of Mother's Day as a national holiday in the United States, proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson in 1914.
