Annette Herfkens was a Dutch woman who gained international attention as the sole survivor of a plane crash in Vietnam in 1992. While traveling on a Yak-40, her aircraft crashed due to a typhoon, claiming the lives of 30 passengers. Stranded for nine days among the wreckage, she survived by drinking rainwater collected in a handkerchief before being rescued.
