Annie Gordon Baillie

Annie Gordon Baillie was a notorious Victorian con artist known for her elaborate scams, which included posing as a charity organizer and an aristocratic novelist. During the tumultuous period of the Crofters' War in the 1880s, she attempted to deceive the islanders of Skye into relocating to Australia under the guise of a philanthropic endeavor. Her criminal exploits led to her arrest in 1888 and subsequent imprisonment for fraud.
