Antínoo was a young Greek boy from Bithynia who became the beloved companion of Emperor Hadrian, succeeding Trajan. His close relationship with Hadrian was marked by deep affection, and after his untimely death, Hadrian honored him by founding the city of Antinopolis in his memory and deifying him.
