Antístenes was an ancient Greek philosopher and a foundational figure in the Cynic movement. He is often regarded as the first Cynic philosopher, advocating for a life of virtue in accordance with nature and rejecting societal norms and material possessions. Antístenes' teachings emphasized self-sufficiency, austerity, and the importance of living authentically, influencing later philosophers such as Diogenes of Sinope.
