Antoine Galland
Antoine Galland was a French Orientalist and translator best known for his early 18th-century translation of 'One Thousand and One Nights' into French, which significantly influenced the European perception of these stories. His version, however, was criticized for omitting much of the original's stylistic richness, eroticism, and complexity, leading to a popular but distorted view of the collection as mere children's tales.
