Over the years, Belyaev transitioned from radio to television, eventually becoming a key figure in media reform at OНТ. His career took a drastic turn after the political unrest in Belarus post-2020, leading to his arrest for participating in protests and subsequent imprisonment. Following his release, he moved to Poland, where he is working on a book reflecting on his experiences in Belarusian prisons.
