Tragically, he made headlines after falling victim to a violent robbery that resulted in his death. After inviting a man he met on Tinder to his home, Castillo was drugged and robbed. He sustained severe injuries from a fall while disoriented, leading to a prolonged hospital stay. His family reported that he had been saving money for a trip, which was stolen along with other valuables during the incident. The case is currently being investigated as a homicide.
