Aristizza Romanescu
Aristizza Romanescu, born on December 24, 1854, was a renowned Romanian stage actress and a professor of declamation at the Bucharest Conservatory of Dramatic Art. The daughter of actors Constantin Demetriad and Paulina Stavrescu, she debuted at the age of 18 in 1872, performing in the famous troupe of cupletist I.D. Ionescu. Romanescu studied in Paris on a scholarship alongside her partner Grigore Manolescu and later shone on the stages of the National Theatre in Bucharest and Iași. She was celebrated for her graceful movements, crystal-clear voice, and impeccable diction, conveying deep emotions through expressive mime. Her contributions to the Romanian theatre were significant, and she passed away in 1918.
