Arminius
Arminius, also known as Hermann, was a chieftain of the Cherusci tribe who played a pivotal role in defeating three Roman legions led by Publius Quinctilius Varus in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD. Having been educated in the Roman military, he used his knowledge of Roman tactics to orchestrate a surprise attack, uniting various Germanic tribes against the Roman invaders and marking a significant turning point in Roman-Germanic relations.
