Arnaut Moreira

Arnaut Moreira is a retired general and former deputy director-general of National Defense Policy in Portugal. He is also an academic, teaching Geopolitics and Geostrategy at the Instituto de Altos Estudos Militares and Universidade Nova. Moreira has been vocal about the strategic role of the Lajes Air Base in the Azores, emphasizing its importance for U.S. military operations. Recently, he commented on the potential use of the base in the context of U.S. military actions against Iran, suggesting that the base exists primarily to serve U.S. interests.
