Artūras Balkevičius

Artūras Balkevičius is known as the head of the Lithuanian Accumulative Innovation Bank (LAIB) during a critical bank crisis in the mid-1990s. He gained notoriety for confirming that Adolfas Šleževičius, the then Prime Minister of Lithuania, withdrew a significant deposit from the bank just days before its operations were suspended due to insolvency. This incident raised public outrage and accusations of abuse of power against Šleževičius, as he was perceived to have insider knowledge of the impending crisis.
