
Ashraf Khodjayev
Ashraf Khodjayev has been appointed as Uzbekistan's first ambassador to the Republic of South Africa, as confirmed by President Cyril Ramaphosa's press service. He currently also serves as Uzbekistan's ambassador to Qatar, a role he began in February 2024. Khodjayev is a graduate of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, the National University of Uzbekistan, and Peking University, holding a PhD in economics. His diplomatic career began in 2005 and has included various positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including roles at the Uzbekistan Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and the embassy in the United Kingdom. Since 2018, he has been the director of the Economic Diplomacy Department within the Ministry.
