Áslaug Sigríður Alfreðsdóttir

Áslaug Sigríður Alfreðsdóttir was a prominent figure in Iceland's hospitality industry, known for her significant contributions to tourism and hotel management. Born on March 30, 1950, in Reykjavik, she had a diverse career spanning various hotels, including Hotel Ísafjörður, where she played a key role in promoting tourism in the Westfjords region. Áslaug was instrumental in establishing the first information center for tourists in Iceland and was actively involved in numerous organizations related to tourism and business development. She was recognized for her dedication with awards such as the gold medal from SVG and the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Falcon in 2007. Áslaug passed away on August 11, 2025, at Landspítalinn.
