Astrid Fodor

Astrid Fodor is the mayor of Sibiu, Romania, a position she has held since she became interim mayor in December 2014, following Klaus Iohannis's election as president. She has been elected to the mayoral office multiple times, securing victories in the local elections of 2016, 2020, and 2024. Fodor is a member of the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania (FDGR) and has a background in local administration, having served as vice mayor since 2008. Recently, she was in the news for having provided information to the Securitate, the former Romanian secret police, under the alias 'Aurora', although the National Council for the Study of Securitate Archives (CNSAS) did not classify her as a collaborator due to the nature of the information she provided.
