Auaha Tipene Oneroa

Auaha Tipene Oneroa is a kairuruku (co-ordinator) at Te Puia, the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute, where he focuses on integrating Māori culture into digital platforms such as Minecraft. Growing up in Australia, Oneroa felt disconnected from his Māori heritage, which drives his passion for showcasing representations of culture and identity through innovative mediums. He collaborates with Māori and Polynesian game developers, ensuring that the project adheres to tikanga Māori while navigating the creative challenges of translating intricate designs into pixel art.
