Auguste Mariette

Auguste Mariette was a French archaeologist and Egyptologist who founded the Egyptian Antiquities Service in 1857. His work in the field laid the groundwork for modern archaeological practices in Egypt, and he was instrumental in the exploration and preservation of ancient sites, including the Karnak Temple.
