
Aurel State
Aurel State was a Romanian officer and a symbol of resistance against the oppressive communist regime. Born on April 29, 1921, in Godeni, he served valiantly during World War II and was decorated for his heroism. Captured by Soviet forces, he endured a horrific 12 years in a Siberian gulag. Upon his return to Romania, he became a target of the communist regime, branded as an enemy of the state. Despite unimaginable suffering, he authored the autobiographical work "Drumul Crucii. Amintiri de pe front și din gulaguri", detailing his experiences. Aurel State's life story exemplifies courage and resilience in the face of severe tyranny.
