Avner Gat was a beloved family man and a reserve major in the Israel Defense Forces, known for his deep love for his kibbutz where he lived his entire life. He survived a tragic attack on his community on October 7, alongside his wife and their dog. Following this traumatic event, he continued to work in printing and served as a guide for tours in the kibbutz, sharing his extensive knowledge of military history. Avner was a passionate advocate for democracy in Israel and worked tirelessly for the release of his niece, Carmel Gat, who had been captured by Hamas, along with other hostages. Tragically, he passed away suddenly in Bari while managing his home, which was set for demolition, leaving behind a loving wife and two daughters.
