Axel von Fersen

Axel von Fersen (1755-1810) was a prominent Swedish nobleman and military officer, best known for his close relationship with Marie-Antoinette, the Queen of France. He played a significant role in European politics during the late 18th century, particularly as an organizer of the royal family's failed escape from revolutionary France in 1791. Fersen was known for his charm, military prowess, and involvement in diplomatic affairs, which often placed him at the center of political intrigues. His life ended tragically when he was lynched in Stockholm, reflecting the turbulent times he lived in.
