Baby Samantha Pendo

Baby Samantha Pendo was a six-month-old infant from the Nyalenda informal settlement in Kisumu, whose tragic death during the 2017 post-election protests became a symbol of police brutality and the loss of innocent lives in Kenya. Her untimely demise, caused by a police officer's use of teargas that struck her in the head, sparked national outrage and calls for justice, leading to the establishment of the Baby Pendo Botanical Park in her honor, which aims to preserve her memory and advocate for accountability.
