Bachar

Bachar is a multi-instrumentalist known for blending jazz with traditional Lebanese melodies. His father, Marcél, was a renowned oud player inspired by Palestinian poetry. Bachar's music features simple yet percussive arrangements that reflect the raw and free spirit of his homeland, often conveying themes of political struggle. He sings in Arabic, with influences of French and English, and his piano sounds reveal elements of the harpsichord. His songs encapsulate the pain of diaspora and colonization, expressing nostalgia and love amidst censorship. While his vision of Lebanon may no longer exist, it lives on in his music, which evokes the scents of cedar and lemon trees, arak, jasmine, and kibbeh.
