Balkis Karmysheva

Balkis Karmysheva was a Soviet ethnographer who studied agricultural rituals among the Kazakh people in the 1970s and 1980s. Her research on Nauryz revealed its historical roots and the various traditional practices that have been maintained throughout the years, even during times of political suppression.
