Bara al-Ayoubi

Bara al-Ayoubi is the director of the Barmhärtigheten orphanage in Damascus, which she founded in 2006 to provide a home for orphaned children. Over the years, especially since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war, her mission has evolved as she has faced the influx of children brought to her by regime soldiers, many of whom were separated from their families under dire circumstances. Al-Ayoubi has been dedicated to reuniting these children with their families whenever possible, navigating complex and often dangerous situations in the process.
