Barbu Vlădoianu

Barbu Vlădoianu was the first elected mayor of Bucharest, serving from 1864. During his tenure, he initiated significant urban improvements, including the construction of Romania's first railway line and the establishment of a civil status office. He also focused on modernizing the city’s infrastructure by organizing the paving of streets and developing a sewage system to prevent flooding.
