Bartolomé Oviedo was a 19th-century Paraguayan captain and landowner known for his significant role in the development of the Yataity district. He acquired lands through royal donation in 1809, which laid the groundwork for the community's consolidation and growth. His contributions are recognized as pivotal in the establishment of Yataity, which has since become a center for traditional Paraguayan crafts, notably the artisan production of Ao Po’i textiles.
