Bas Spek

Bas Spek is the owner and initiator of museum Bakkie, located in Reynsdorp, Suriname. He is dedicated to educating visitors about the region's slavery history and the cultural significance of various artifacts. Through his engaging storytelling, Spek aims to connect people with their roots, particularly for those of Surinamese descent seeking to learn about their heritage. Over the past seventeen years, he has worked closely with his partner Marsha Mormon to develop the museum into a knowledge center, incorporating new exhibits and planning future expansions.
