Beedemariam Mekonnen

Beedemariam Mekonnen is the grandson of Haile Selassie, the last emperor of Ethiopia, and has been an advocate for acknowledging his grandfather's complex legacy in Ethiopian history. He spent 12 years imprisoned under the Derg regime and highlights Haile Selassie's contributions to education and modernization, while also acknowledging the mistakes made during his reign that led to widespread suffering.
