Bela od Mačve was a Hungarian duke and a significant historical figure who lived in the 13th century. He was the grandson of King Béla IV of Hungary and is known for his role in the political landscape of medieval Hungary. His brutal murder in 1272 remained a mystery for centuries, sparking debates among historians and researchers. Recently, an international team led by Hungarian scientists from Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest published a study in Forensic Science International: Genetics, providing new insights into the circumstances surrounding his death, thus shedding light on a long-unsolved historical puzzle.
