Belyash was a small white dog who became a beloved companion to an artilleryman known by the call sign Zoltan, in the Kalinowski Regiment during the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Rescued in September 2022 while Zoltan and his team were changing a tire near the frontline, Belyash quickly adapted to military life, following Zoltan everywhere from Zaporizhia to Kharkiv. Despite the harsh conditions of war, he had a distinct aversion to weapons and would leave the room whenever the soldiers cleaned their guns. Belyash was known for his spirited personality, having formed a pack of local dogs in Kupiansk, and was recognized even at distant checkpoints. Sadly, he passed away on July 21, 2026, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.
