Benedict XIV
Benedict XIV was a pope known for his efforts to reconcile the Priestly Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) with the Roman Catholic Church. He lifted the excommunications of Lefebvre and his bishops in 2009, but did not restore them to full ministry, a situation that remains contentious as the SSPX threatens to consecrate bishops independently.
