Benet XVI

Pope Benedict XVI, born Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger in 1927, served as the pope from 2005 until his resignation in 2013, becoming the first pope to resign in nearly 600 years. His papacy focused on traditional Catholic teachings, the promotion of religious dialogue, and addressing the sexual abuse crisis within the Church. After his resignation, he lived in the Vatican as a retired pope, continuing to influence Catholic thought and theology.
