Bergur Sverrisson

Bergur Sverrisson is an Icelandic weightlifter who recently competed in the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships in Norway, where he finished 19th in the men's -88 kg category, marking his debut at a world championship event. Earlier in the year, he secured a 13th place finish at the European Championships, showcasing his potential in the sport. At the World Championships, Bergur lifted 130 kg in his first attempt, followed by 135 kg, but missed his final attempt at 140 kg, which was also an attempt to set a national record. In the clean and jerk segment, he faced two invalid lifts but demonstrated resilience by successfully lifting 158 kg on his final attempt.
