Bernard Maissen

Bernard Maissen is a seasoned media professional who has served as the head of the Federal Office of Communications (BAKOM) since June 2020, following two years as its deputy director. Before his tenure at BAKOM, he made significant contributions to the media landscape as the editor-in-chief and a member of the management team at the Swiss News Agency SDA. Maissen's extensive background in journalism and media management includes involvement with the Swiss Journalism School and the Federal Media Commission. He is set to retire in spring 2026, making way for Gianna Luzio as his successor.
