Bernardino Nino Chávez

Bernardino Nino Chávez was a celebrated Costa Rican goalkeeper, known for his time with Liga Deportiva Alajuelense and Cartaginés, as well as his contributions to the national team. He played seven matches for Costa Rica and was part of the squad for the 1974 and 1978 World Cup qualifiers. Chávez was particularly remembered for his unique approach to the game, including his infamous decision to wear a black cape during a national final in 1979 to intimidate his opponents. He passed away at the age of 75, leaving a legacy in Costa Rican football.
