Bernardita Soubirous

Bernardita Soubirous was a young French peasant girl who became famous for reporting apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1858 in Lourdes, France. At just 14 years old, she experienced eighteen visions, during which the Virgin identified herself as 'the Immaculate Conception.' Her experiences led to the establishment of the Lourdes pilgrimage site, which is now a significant location for Catholic devotion and healing. Bernardita's story has been immortalized in various forms of media, including the classic film 'The Song of Bernadette.'
