Bhagat Singh Thind
Bhagat Singh Thind was an Indian-American civil rights activist and World War I veteran who became famous for his legal fight for citizenship in the United States. In 1923, he argued before the U.S. Supreme Court that Indians were 'Caucasians' and should therefore be eligible for naturalization, a claim that was ultimately rejected, illustrating the racial barriers faced by Asian immigrants.
