Bianca D'Aniello

Bianca D'Aniello is an Italian woman who, as a child, experienced the profound difficulties of post-World War II Italy. At the age of 10, she boarded one of the 'trains of happiness' (Treni della felicità) in 1947, a humanitarian initiative that transported impoverished children from the war-torn south of Italy to live temporarily with families in better circumstances. Bianca's journey not only provided her with a glimpse of a different life but ultimately changed her fate, leading her to a loving adoptive family. Now 88 years old, she reflects on her childhood memories marked by hardship and the transformative impact of this program.
