Bill Walton was a legendary American basketball player, known for his exceptional skills as a center. Born on November 5, 1952, he gained fame at UCLA under the legendary coach John Wooden, leading the team to two NCAA championships in 1972 and 1973. Walton was later selected as the first overall pick in the 1974 NBA Draft and played for the Portland Trail Blazers, where he won an NBA championship in 1977. He also had stints with the San Diego Clippers and the Boston Celtics, winning another championship in 1986. Beyond his playing career, Walton became a well-respected sports commentator. He passed away in 2022 at the age of 71 after battling cancer.
