Birna Óladóttir

Birna Óladóttir was an Icelandic homemaker and businesswoman, born on July 12, 1941, in Grímsey. She played a pivotal role in the fishing industry as a co-founder of Fiskanes hf., a significant fishing company in Grindavík, established in 1965. Over the years, Birna contributed to her community through her involvement in various social organizations, including serving as chairwoman of the Women's Association of Grindavík for nine years. Known for her dedication to volunteer work, she also supported the Red Cross and was involved in initiatives for the local nursing home. Birna passed away on September 23, 2023, at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of community service and family, including five children and numerous grandchildren.
