Bob Wood, 75, is a canal boat resident who narrowly escaped a major incident in Shropshire when a 50-metre sinkhole suddenly appeared, threatening his vessel and those nearby. He was sleeping on his boat when he felt a sudden tilt and, realizing the danger, managed to alert his neighbor just in time before the boat was swallowed by the collapsing bank.
