Bohdan Osadczuk

Bohdan Osadczuk, born in 1920 in what was then Polish West Ukraine, was a prominent Ukrainian-Polish publicist known for his insightful analyses of Eastern European issues, particularly during the Cold War. Writing under the pseudonym Alexander Korab for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ), he advocated for democracy and the rule of law, often facing opposition from Moscow, Warsaw, and Kiev. His work was so influential that Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev once demanded his removal from the NZZ. A passionate advocate for Ukrainian-Polish reconciliation, Osadczuk's lifelong dedication to understanding and communication between these nations earned him recognition as a key figure in the region's post-war history. He passed away in 2011, shortly after completing his memoirs.
