Boris Betancourt Hernández is a prominent Cuban opposition leader whose life has been marked by systematic political persecution since adolescence. At 15, he signed the Varela Project and began his activism at 16, facing arbitrary detentions, fabricated legal processes, imprisonment, and forced exile due to his defense of freedom of expression and human rights in Cuba. His commitment deepened following the political murders of key leaders in 2010 and 2012, reinforcing his determination to continue their legacy. Even in exile, he founded the organization Camino a la Democracia Pacífica de Cuba 2019 to promote a non-violent democratic transition for the island. He has faced continuous repression and threats against his family, revealing the regime's relentless efforts to suppress dissent.
