Börries Gallasch (1944-1981) was a German war correspondent known for his coverage of significant historical events. He worked for notable publications such as Hamburger Abendblatt and Der Spiegel. Gallasch gained prominence for being the sole Western journalist present at the Independence Palace in Saigon during the historic moment of Vietnam's reunification on April 30, 1975, where he witnessed and recorded the surrender of the South Vietnamese government.
