Botagoz Sabirova

Botagoz Sabirova is the akim (head) of the Kishi Karoy rural district in the Akzhar region of Kazakhstan. She was recently in the news due to disciplinary action taken against her for allowing a postal worker and single mother of four to sell children's clothing and socks inside the akimat (local government building). Despite acknowledging the violation of regulations, Sabirova expressed compassion for the woman's financial struggles, which influenced the council's decision to issue a warning rather than more severe penalties.
