Božidar-Bonja Ivanović is a celebrated Montenegrin chess grandmaster and a prominent figure in the world of chess, recognized for his significant contributions to the sport. He has won multiple championships in the former Yugoslavia and is a 16-time champion of Montenegro. Officially declared a grandmaster in 1978, Ivanović has played a vital role in placing Montenegro on the global chess map through his competitive play and coaching. He has also served as the Minister of Sports in the government of Montenegro. Recently, he was awarded the Order of the Montenegrin Flag of the First Degree in recognition of his exceptional merits for the country, expressing gratitude for the acknowledgment of chess's importance in Montenegrin society.
