Brenda Montañez

Brenda Montañez is the wife of Jaime Cruz, the mayor of Villa Hidalgo, Jalisco, and currently serves as the president of the municipal DIF (National System for Integral Family Development). She recently made headlines after being kidnapped by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Aguascalientes, where she was held for two days. During her captivity, Montañez stated that the cartel pressured her husband to remove the director of public security but did not demand a specific replacement. After her release, she expressed that the cartel's motives were to clarify rumors and maintain peace. Montañez is now contemplating her and her husband's future in public office following this traumatic incident.
