Bronte Simpson was a promising 24-year-old apprentice jockey from Ballarat, Australia, who tragically lost her life in a car crash near Dubbo. She had recently begun her racing career, moving to New South Wales to pursue her passion for horse racing. Simpson started her apprenticeship with trainer Sara Ryan and later moved to work with Jane Clement, accumulating 13 wins, including her first ride victory at Muswellbrook in May 2023. Her untimely death has deeply affected the close-knit racing community.
