Buang-Ly

Major Buang-Ly was a South Vietnamese Air Force pilot who attempted to rescue his family during the fall of Saigon in 1975. In a desperate bid for safety, he flew a small Cessna with his wife and five children toward the USS Midway, seeking a place to land as North Vietnamese forces closed in. His handwritten note requesting assistance famously dropped onto the carrier deck led to a dramatic and risky landing, showcasing his bravery and determination to save his family amidst the chaos of war.
